While the Coronavirus pandemic...



While the Coronavirus pandemic has kept most of us working from home, our colleagues have been hard at work finalizing publications, transitioning into new roles and receiving recognition for their dedication. Here are a few highlights showcasing our members.

Bronwen K. Maxson, Undergraduate Engagement Librarian at the University of Oregon, published an article title "Boolean redux: Performance of advanced versus simple boolean searches and implications for upper-level instruction" in The Journal of Academic Librarianship.

Daniel Arbino was promoted from U.S. Latina/o Studies Librarian to the Head of Collection Development at the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection at the University of Texas at Austin in March 2020.

Dr. Seonaid Valiant, Curator for Latin American Studies at Arizona State University, Published article titled "The National Museum of Mexico in the Porfirian Era, 1876–1911," in the Mexican Handbook of Mexican History, Oxford, 2020.

Daisy Domínguez, Associate Professor and Information Literacy Librarian, was promoted to the interim chief of CCNY Libraries in September 2020.

Jesús Alonso Regalado, Associate Librarian for History, Latin American Studies, and Romance Languages at the University at Albany, SUNY was interviewed for Mi Biblioteca, La Revista del Mundo Bibliotecario.

Dr. Antonio Sotomayor, Latin American and Caribbean Studies Librarian and Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, published a book Olimpismo: The Olympic Movement in the Making of Latin America and the Caribbean with the University of Arkansas Press. He also published an encyclopedia entry titled "Sports in Latin America and the Caribbean" in the Oxford Bibliographies. Additionally, you can find an Open Access copy for the Spanish translation of his book titled La colonia soberana: Deportes olímpicos, identidad nacional y política internacional en Puerto Rico with CLACSO.
