Adopt a Volume!

Convert SALALM volumes to Open Access

The Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials has published its annual proceedings for over 60 years. Starting in 2023, SALALM began providing electronic access to its new publications via Project MUSE.

Even though access to the most recent SALALM publications still requires a subscription, all of the older publications on Project MUSE are completely open access

SALALM wants to provide digital open access to the entire backfile of the organization’s annual proceedings on Project MUSE, from its first reunion at the Chinsegut Hill Library in Brooksville, Florida in 1956 to the 52nd meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2007.

However, converting the SALALM catalog to open access will require significant resources to digitize, prepare, and cover open access fees for over 50 titles.

Help SALALM achieve this goal by adopting a volume for digitization. Institutional and individual supporters alike are invited to choose from among the available volumes for adoption, indicate a preference for their donation via this form, or simply choose to direct their donation to any volume. We aim to raise the necessary funds by August 31, 2025 so that we can complete this project by August 31, 2027.

Ready to support?

  • Please fill out this form with your contact information and to indicate a preference of volume for digitization.
  • Purchase your volume here. If you would like to adopt more than one volume, update your cart at checkout.
  • Any questions? Contact the SALALM Secretariat at salalm@nyu.edu

By sharing the unparalleled wealth of experience and knowledge that has been generated within SALALM over decades, SALALM will be making a truly remarkable contribution to the field of Latin American Studies. This includes (but is not limited to) long range historical studies on the international book trade, the circulation of ideas across the world, and on the emergence and evolution of areas studies from their Cold War era beginnings to the present.
