As the vast majority of the physical collections in our libraries move offsite, the University Library System (ULS) seeks a dynamic individual to provide leadership in the overall management, care, and timely delivery of the physical materials comprising the three million volume collection at our offsite storage facility. With a user-centered perspective the incumbent will collaboratively work to ensure that the in-library and the off-site collections most effectively support the research and learning needs of the university. This position will be integral to the implementation of a new inventory control system for our high-density storage materials, and the integration of existing systems to create a seamless fulfillment experience for the user. This position reports to the Associate University Librarian for Collections and Technical Services.
• Manages delivery of all formats of materials housed in both high-density storage and temporary storage.
• Manages operational activities of the high-density storage unit
• As systems change, monitors workflow for inefficiencies and improvements
• Maintains excellent quality control methods
• Manages project to address known problems with storage contents (e.g. database clean up)
• Works with library IT staff and external vendors to migrate to new cloud-based inventory control system, including data migration and integration with new request/fulfillment system
• Ensures consistent and accurate procedures are used with the inventory control system
• Collaboratively strategizes the movement of analog materials among campus libraries and storage.
• Works with internal colleagues to maintain consistent, excellent customer service
• Provides statistical reports as needed
• Monitors the safe and secure handling and transportation of library materials
• Ensures best practices in collection management for the off-site collection
• Participates in cooperative shared print projects

• Experience with complex information systems, including process and workflow management with demonstrated ability to integrate technology into workflows.
• Strong communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, embrace ambiguity, adapt to change and successfully work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to identify problems, think creatively and carry out solutions independently or as part of a group or team, particularly when several priorities arise at the same time.
• Broad knowledge of cataloging issues, trends, workflows, and best practices in an academic library.
• Demonstrated ability to train staff.
• Previous supervisory experience.
