SALALM LXV
Buen Provecho: Celebrating and Exploring the Richness of Latin American, Caribbean and LatinX Food and Drink
June 5 – 8, 2020
University of California, Davis
Sacramento, California

Sacramento, California:
Sacramento is the capital city of California and is located over two hours to the Northeast of San Francisco. Currently, Sacramento is experiencing a true renaissance. It is alive and buzzing with new sights, sounds, and smells. As America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, it fuses surrounding farms with local restaurants, which led to the explosion of its farm-fresh food scene. It is one of California’s most affordable and accessible cities, served by 150 flights daily. The nucleus of Sacramento’s food, art, music, and entertainment scenes include Old Sacramento historic district and the vibrant Midtown with its tree-lined streets, old Victorians, upscale lofts, boutiques, bars, clubs, and cafes.

Conference:
Most of SALALM LXV’s (June 5-8, 2020) meetings and activities will take place at the Embassy Suites Sacramento-Riverfront Promenade Hotel. However, on Friday, June 5, Day 1 of the conference, SALALM LXV participants will travel to the University of California-Davis on chartered buses. UC Davis will provide space and resources for many activities: committee meetings, Librero-Librarian consultations, special tours of UC Davis’s unique wine educational facilities, a Special Collections exhibit of examples from what renowned wine writer Hugh Johnson called “the greatest wine library in the world,” including 30,000 books in more than 50 languages, rare books and manuscripts, historic records and research data, and materials in every medium, from wine labels to videos, and a host reception in the Shields Library Courtyard.

Please note that this is a wonderful but busy hotel and it can be a challenge sometimes to get someone on the phone when calling from outside. The Local Arrangements Committee suggests that attendees take advantage of all of the online tools to make reservations, provide your flight information to ensure shuttle pickup, and correspond with indicated specialists regarding shipping of books or anything else. Please be assured that once at the hotel, the staff is very attentive and we expect that you will all be very pleased!
