Tours of NYPL and The Hispanic Society Museum & Library
For SALALM 70 we have two great opportunities to offer conference participants! The New York Public Library will offer free tours just prior to the host reception on Tuesday evening, and if you’re staying after the conference, please join a free private tour of The Hispanic Society Museum & Library on Friday, May 30 in Upper Manhattan.
Space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis, so please RSVP. For the NYPL tours, members of Local Arrangements will be on hand on Tuesday at the NYU Kimmel Center to help guide participants to NYPL via the subway or in a taxi.

Tours are at 3:45 PM and 4:00 PM (in English; maximum 15 people) and 4:15pm (in Spanish; maximum 15 people)

The Milstein Research Stacks allow the Library to safely preserve and store more than 4 million books and archival materials on site. Private visit and collection tour of The Hispanic Society Museum & Library

See a 16th-century Zapotec genealogy, the Relación geográfica map of Tequaltiche, and printed works such as the Columbus 1493 Epístola, the Cortés map of Tenochtitlan, and works by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. The visit will conclude with a guided tour of the museum, including Vision of Spain, Joaquín Sorolla’s monumental mural series created specifically for the Hispanic Society, as well as a special exhibition of works by contemporary Brazilian artist Adriana Varejão.
