The Dartmouth College Library seeks an innovative, service focused professional to join a collaborative team in Research & InstructionServices, Baker-Berry Library, supporting faculty and students in the academic departments of French & Italian, Spanish & Portuguese,
and interdisciplinary programs associated with Latin American studies. This librarian will provide liaison, education and collection
management services in support of research, teaching and learning at Dartmouth College in these selected fields. This librarian will also
play an active role in developing the Library's education program.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Head of Research & Instruction Services, Baker-Berry Library, this librarian provides
information, outreach, education, and collections services in a flexible and innovative environment as liaison to the departments of
French & Italian, Spanish & Portuguese, and interdisciplinary programs associated with Latin American studies. This librarian develops,
manages, and assesses print and digital collections in liaison areas to support research and teaching. S/he provides a full spectrum
of education and curricular support related to finding, evaluating, and using information in the humanities and social sciences. This
position reports 25% to the Director of the Library's Education & Outreach program, assisting with program development for education
initiatives in the humanities and social sciences and across the College.
QUALIFICATIONS: MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program. Advanced academic background in French, Italian or Spanish
language and literature preferred. Speaking skills in French, Italian or Spanish required. Reading skills in all three languages highly
preferred. Demonstrated experience with and enthusiasm in providing education services, a strong commitment to responsive and pro-
active user engagement, the ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines as well as excellent analytical, organizational, and
communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment are essential.
RANK AND SALARY: The position is part of the Dartmouth College Library Classification System of Professional Ranks. Salary
is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Full benefits package including 22 vacation days; comprehensive health care;
retirement plans, including TIAA-CREF; and relocation assistance.
