HAPI Plus SciELO-México: An Initiative to Expand Access to Mexican Scholarship

The SALALM Award for...

The SALALM Award for Institutional Collaborative Initiatives awarded the Hispanic American Periodicals Index (HAPI) a $3,000 grant to support this project during the coming fiscal year, with Orchid Mazurkiewicz as principal investigator.

The Hispanic American Periodicals Index (HAPI) and SciELO-México are partnering to promote greater accessibility of Mexican scholarship via inclusion in the HAPI index. This would be a unique collaboration pairing one of the most well-established and high profile online Latin American Studies resources published in the Global North with a national network member of SciELO, one of the most influential and impactful Open Access (OA) organizations in the Global South. Including selected SciELO-México records in HAPI immediately adds value to HAPI as a research resources by increasing searchable content while simultaneously increasing the potential dissemination of Mexican scholarship to audiences otherwise unfamiliar with this OA platform. The project partners seek funding to help defray the programming costs associated with the development of the underlying technical infrastructure and the necessary modifications in HAPI's public-facing website and in-house production platform.
