Composition

Three members appointed by the President.

Purpose
To manage the annual election of Vice-President/President-Elect and of Members-at-Large of the Executive Board.

Activities

  1.  Reviews membership list in search of eligible candidates.
  2. Calls for nominations; collects biographical data.
  3. Using software approved by the Executive Board, prepares electronic ballot that includes biographical data for the candidates running for office.
  4. Announces winners to Executive Board and membership.
  5. Provides a detailed report of the elections to the Executive Board at the annual conference meeting.

Requirements for candidates to the SALALM annual elections

Candidates for Vice-President/President-Elect:

  • SALALM membership dues must be paid in full for the previous two consecutive years.
  • Must have been members of SALALM for three years.
  • Must have attended two annual SALALM conferences.
  • Must have provided substantial services within the organization, such as service on committees and working groups.

Candidates for Members-at-large:

  • SALALM membership dues must be paid in full for previous two consecutive years.
  • Must have been members of SALALM for two years.
  • Must have attended two annual SALALM conferences.

Note: These requirements may be waived after consultation with the President and Executive Secretary if no candidates can be found who satisfy the above requirements.
