Purpose

To coordinate the promotion and dissemination of information related to SALALM news, events, activities, initiatives, as well as members and their institutions as they relateto Latin American and Caribbean Studies librarianship.
 

Activities

Technology Co-chair
  1. Serves as contact person for any technology related issues and projects
  2. In conjunction with the Content Co-chair, tracks progress on current projects
  3. Serves as backup administrator for SALALM’s Google platform
  4. Also serves as a technology-focused member of the committee (AMS Manager, Website manager, or Translation Manager)
Content Co-chair
  1. Acts as a clearinghouse to find and share appropriate content for presentation in all SALALM communication platforms
  2. Also serves as a content-focused member of the committee (Translation Manager, Social Media Coordinator, LALA-L Moderator)
LALA-L Moderators
  1. Maintain and moderate the personal members-only LALA-L listserv.
Website Manager
  1. Posts website content submitted by members in a timely manner
  2. Manages the website’s structure
  3. Serves as contact for any Association Management Software (AMS) related issues and related committees (Membership, Finance, etc.) and as the main contact with the AMS company
  4. Creates and maintains membership join/renewal and conference registration in the AMS
  5. In conjunction with the content co-chair, creates and maintains other SALALM-sponsored events, related news, etc. in the AMS to promote them on the SALALM website
  6. Supports Translation Manager regarding website translations
Social Media
  1. Monitors and evaluates social media tools, identifying appropriate media for disseminating information about SALALM.
  2. Posts and manages content on all of SALALM’s social media platforms
Translation Manager
  1. Restructures web pages as needed to ease automatic translation by the translation software
  2. Recruits volunteers to edit automatic translations on the SALALM website and assures completion in a timely manner
  3. Following SALALM’s language policy, organizes which web pages are excluded or included in automatic translations (for example, a creative essay written only in Spanish vs. an informational page for the entire membership)
  4. As this is both a technical and content position, it can be filled by either co-chair
